A concert backstage pass is one which grants access to different areas of a specific concert. There are backstage passes available for all kinds of concerts such as a theatre performance, a fashion show, a film festival or a music show. These are usually desired by fans of the performer or one of the performers of the concerning show or concert.

These can come with many kinds of formats, two of which are laminated, generally card-shaped designed to hang around the neck and with the type of the card written over it (rarely with photo identification) and wristbands (the colour showing the type of access permitted).

How many types are available?

There may be various types of backstage passes available. However, only four are common. These are: – an all-access pass, a crew pass, a VIP pass, and a press pass. All-access passes provide the highest exposure possible to the performer; including pre-performance and post-performance parties, the backstage and all.

The crew passes, for crew members only, also cover all or most of the area. The press pass may have various restrictions depending on the organizers. And a VIP pass is one which gives a VIP the permission to enter and enjoy the areas which are not restricted by the organizers.
Where to find one?

Free concert backstage passes may be available from various sources. The performing individual or the group, the hosts, the organizers, the show managers, the press or the radio partner covering the concert all can provide you with these passes, which are primarily used to promote the concert or to grow the popularity.

What is the right way to behave?

Attending a backstage party has various ethics and codes to be maintained. Failing to do these or misbehave and you may be thrown out of the gate by the guards. Probably the first one is to dress nicely and talk intelligently. Its unnecessary and often disturbing talking like an ass-kisser because artists usually know that they are great. It is also important not to feel hysterical or overzealous.

Showing restraints on your part is typically important, too. While it is only natural for you to be a little excited seeing your dream person right in front of you, it helps to put on a show as if you respect their boundaries. Getting drunk is never a good idea and this is no exception. Also it would be better if you do not eat all the foods served.

What are the advantages?

If you are too crazy about a performer (or a star), you undoubtedly cherish the vision to be with him/them. These passes may be a way to shooting photo, hanging out with the person you admire so much. You may even have a chance to get to know who the actual person is, under all the glamour. See what s/hes hiding under the veil!!

If you have read a horror novel and want to write one you have probably asked the same questions over and over, how to write a horror novel and what tools can you use to captivate and maintain your readers. The characters of your horror novel are one of the most important aspects of your story. Through them the reader experiences the events of the story. The creation of your characters takes time and careful thought. The setting of your horror novel is of equal importance and should be treated as such.

Defined simply, the setting of the horror novel is the time in which the events occurred and the place where they occurred. A well thought through and prepared setting will make the story believable. If your readers believe the events in the story could actually happen it will be easier for you to tap into their fears.

Learning how to write a horror novel also involves learning how to choose the best setting for your novel. Read novels that have been recently published and are doing well in the market. This will help you understand what the modern day horror novel readers are looking for. If you are planning to send your book to a publisher, identify those that interest you and read the guidelines they have set for their authors. You can even join a horror writing club or forum and discuss with other writers about different settings.

When you have decided on the general time and location of your story, carry out research about the specific setting. If they are both imaginary e.g. another galaxy in 2035 BC, then you can research similar settings. Including information that is familiar to the reader makes even the most fantastic stories more believable. >

A good violin, viola or cello varnish can play an important role in perfecting the sound quality of an instrument. The varnish applied by Stradivari to his violins is still believed by many to be the secret the their phenomenal sound. Whether oil or alcohol-based, violinmakers prize their varnish recipes as one of the most important elements of the violinmaking process.

Before applying any coatings to the instrument, the white wood can be given a tan by exposure to sunlight for a period of several days to several weeks. Aging the wood brings out the color and visual character of the wood through oxidation and ultraviolet light.

When the wood has received the desired look, the next stage is applying a -ground- coating. A violinmaker may prefer to apply a primer or sealer first. While also darkening and deepening the wood’s visual depth, the ground coating strengthens and protects the instrument even after the varnish has worn off. Many recipes for the ground coat exist and typically this is a tightly held secret.

Next, the instrument is ready to be varnished. Many recipes exist; most consist of sun-thickened oils such as linseed, lavender or walnut oil combined with oxidized resins such as amber, dammar, balsam and shellac. Alcohol can also be used as a part of or in addition to an oil base. The mixture is left to sit for up to a week, being stirred a few times a day until the lac no longer sits at the top. The mixture is then boiled, cooled and boiled again, then filtered for impurities.

Adding color to the varnish mixture can help to bring out darker, richer tones, if the varnish mixture is too light. Coloring agents, or -lakes,- include turmeric and saffron for a yellow tone. Sandalwood and pernambucco bring out a redder tone. The varnish is then applied in many coats depending upon the thickness and consistency of the varnish. The varnish is allowed to dry in the sun between coats. Touch ups can be added if there are areas needing additional coating. The instrument can then be lightly polished using a soft cloth with alcohol and mineral oil and or polished out using pumice powders.

The thriller movies genre is often confused with the genre known as horror. Why? It can be difficult to differentiate between the two, from their very natures to the way Hollywood and the film industry prefers to split the two or blur the lines between them. Here are some of the main differences between thriller movies and horror movies.

The Purpose of Thriller vs. the Purpose of Horror

Every film is written with a purpose, how it wants to affect the audience. Thriller movies are meant to thrill, to keep viewers on the edge of their seat – not shaking in it. Though they may have some elements of terror, they are usually more suspenseful. Horror movies aim to horrify viewers; the main goal is to get you jumping from your seat. A thriller leaves room for discussion and can generate some real fear, whereas horror will simply leave you feeling spooked without much reason, as the events are extremely improbable.

No Plot vs. a Point

Thriller movies always have a good plot. This isn’t surprising, as many are book based. You can expect the unexpected with thrillers. You don’t know exactly who is doing what or why, but it is revealed to you and there’s sure to be twists in the story. With horror, most everything is predictable. You typically know who is doing what, though a motive may or may not be given. You can typically tell what happens next and to whom, but thrillers are witty cat and mouse games.

Reality vs. Fantasy

The line between thrillers and horror is drawn here. Thrillers are films that could happen. They’re about stalkers, serial killers who stay dead when they die and practical phenomenon.

Horror films stray from reality, with killers returning from the dead and other supernatural elements taking place.

Body Count Counts

Horror focuses on gore and body count. A thriller might kill off a significant number of characters, but any grotesque deaths will only be implied, not shown.

Genre Mixing to Gain an Audience

Many times genres are mixed and for the sake of attracting more viewers they are categorized in a non traditional way. What may have been a horror might be released as a suspense thriller. That’s just how Hollywood works. It’s about earning a dollar, and some people who don’t like horror will be drawn in when watching thriller movies that almost cross that line, but not quite.

There are many ways to let people know about your product, event, or service. Many people think as far as PR and advertising but can’t visualize beyond this point. Placing a radio ad will gain you exposure, sure, but a radio media tour goes a long way to insure that the target demographic is actually listening to the message that you’re sharing. Many people simply tune out advertisements or change the station, but they do often listen to what the DJ’s have to say, especially with interviews or topics of interest.

So, what is a radio media tour? A radio media tour is usually booked and arranged for a company through a strategist or marketing company. A spokesperson- usually a third-party individual, then gives interviews with different radio outlets and personalities over a period of several hours. Each interview conducted will be between five and ten minutes. These interviews can be done live or they may be recorded for later use. The company will provide background material for each interviewer. In choosing radio outlets, it is obviously desirable to match their target demographic with your own. Size, region, and format are also a large part of the considerations that need to be taken into account. National networks, syndicated shows, statewide radio, regional and local radio stations might all be considered.

In doing a radio media tour to promote or increase exposure, having a spokesperson is key. While a spokesperson is very much a third party, they need to be someone with a reason to care about the product- somehow has a connection with the product that makes them care about it and desire to promote it. Obviously, this gets to be balanced out by being someone who can be informative and casual and not push or over-promote the product. Choosing the right spokesperson is perhaps the most important part of this process. The reason why many companies seek out talent to represent them is simply by nature of the celebrity status, a wider audience will be listening.

Securing the appropriate spokesperson is something best done with the help of a celebrity marketing agency who can not only make those calls for you, but who have the unique position in being experienced in matching up companies with talent. They can help you to find a spokesperson, put together background information, and book the radio media tour.

Make use of and to increase your visibility in the marketplace by using proper media placement, satellite media tours, and radio media tours.

Over the past ten years, maternity photography has become very popular. The anticipated birth of each child into the family is being celebrated with a professional photography session to capture the time in the family’s life. When considering getting pregnancy portraits done, there are some key elements to think about, including when to have the maternity session, who should be in it, and what to wear.

The timing of the maternity session is very important. You do not want to do the session too early and not have an impressive belly, but you do not want to wait so late so that the woman is swollen in the feet and ankles and miserable. Given these parameters, 32 to 36 weeks is a good, happy medium that usually works well. Of course if the woman is having multiples, then adjust the time accordingly.

Another consideration is who will be in the photos? Obviously the pregnant woman will be in them, but who else should be in them? One approach is to include the family members that will be the most significant part of the baby’s life – which usually includes both parents and any siblings. A different approach would be to do the project as a study of just the woman and her pregnancy – which is then sometimes given as a gift to her partner as a surprise.

Where should the maternity session be done? Most maternity sessions involve showing a good deal of skin, so the woman should consider whether she would be comfortable doing that in public space like the beach or a meadow or a more edgey urban city look, or whether she would prefer the privacy of a photography studio or home session.

The desired style of the resulting images should also be carefully considered. Should they be more moody and shadowy, or light and airy, more traditional, or sexy, or fun and funky? Figuring out the style or styles of the pregnancy portraits can be done by looking on the internet for examples of other maternity photography that you like.

After having figured out the location and the styles, figuring out what to wear should be a bit easier now. For maternity sessions, the choice of what to wear includes; wearing clothes with the belly showing, doing semi-nudes with clothing, bathing suits or lingerie, doing semi-nudes with fabrics and sheers, or full nude maternity photography.

After having decided to do the session, another thing to think about is where to put the resulting prints from the session. If they are family portraits that are clothed, they may be able to hang anywhere in the house. If they are more black&white nude pregnancy portraits it may be better to hang these in the bedroom. Another great choice is to consider a fine art maternity album for the images.

After having done the professional maternity session, adding an artistic newborn photography session would be an excellent idea. Framed body parts from the maternity session including close ups of hands and bellies can be combined into a modern

Reviews of some horror movies I’ve watched.

Resident Evil: Extinction

In this third installment the entire planet has been overrun by zombie creatures, and Milla Jovovich tries to survive in this Mad Max-like world. Several scenes seem “borrowed” from other movies, like the bird attack straight out of Hitchcock’s “The Birds.” I wasn’t impressed with the CGI, and there’s no real tension in the movie – but there is some nice kick-butt-zombie-action. If you liked the first two “Resident Evil” movies, you’ll enjoy this one as well. Grade: 3 out of 5

Wind Chill

In a chilling winter landscape two college students crash with their car. Soon they encounter ghosts. There’s a very creepy atmosphere in this movie, and the acting is excellent. But the movie is also painfully slow, and it’s far between the scares. More drama than horror. Grade: 2 out of 5

The Hitcher

Decent 2007 remake of the original Rutger Hauer movie. A young couple on their way to spring break pick up a dangerous hitchhiker, who turns their lives into a nightmare. This time around we se Sean Bean as the hitcher, and he always delivers. Despite some plot holes this is an okay remake, but I prefer the original. Grade: 3 out of 5

Alone

From the directors of “Shutter” come this better-than-average ghost horror from Thailand. It’s about a dead siamese twin that comes back to haunt the sister who is alive. I really wanted to give this movie a higher grade, but I can’t because the ghost scares and the twist are very predictable – but it’s a pretty solid movie anyway. Grade: 3 out of 5

Premonition

Middle-of-the-road thriller where Sandra Bullock loses her husband in a car accident. But a few days later he’s alive again. Was his death just a premonition of what to come, and can she stop it? The movie is slow paced and confusing as it jumps back and forth in the story. The suspense is almost non-existent, but there are some touching moments between the characters. The movie held my interest to somewhere around the halfway mark, then I got tired of it. Grade: 2 out of 5

The Breed

Michelle Rodriguez just doesn’t have any luck with islands. First “Lost” and now this. A bunch of friends arriving at an island are attacked by genetically manipulated rabid dogs. And the dogs are real, no CGI dogs, thank you very much. There are some suspenseful scenes, and the movie is better than I expected, but it’s not good enough. Grade: 2 out of 5

Since no two violins are exactly the same, each kind of violin string will sound differently on various instruments. Determining which strings to make use of also depends upon what style of music you’re playing as different strings will provide, or detract from, the particular needs from the instrument.

For instance, there’s a vast difference in the needs of a classical violinist along with a country fiddler. There can also be great variations in the unique styles of each player, as well as the instrument being played. The responsiveness, volume, playability and sound will all vary with the type of strings chosen.

Basically, violin strings are available in three types: gut, steel core and synthetic core. Modern gut strings have a sheep gut core and are covered with silver or copper wire. Providing complex overtones coupled with an abundant, warm sound, gut strings remain a well known choice with those playing earlier pieces. The drawback to using them, however, is they tend to react to varying weather conditions and require more tuning until they’re adequately stretched.

Steel core may be the violin string of preference for players of non-classical music. They offer a clearer and much more direct sound with fewer overtones than gut strings. The pitch can also be more stable and they tend to be longer lasting. Steel core violin strings are good choices for beginners because of their bright, crisp sound.

Synthetic core strings didnt arrive on the market before 1970s. Many brands of synthetic strings made from nylon along with other composite materials make their way onto instruments since that time. They are popular simply because they provide the pleasant sound of gut string with a more stable pitch.

Another essential consideration when looking for the right strings for your instrument and type of play is the violin string gauge. Various thicknesses and tensions are available in most string brands and also the various gauges will determine the type of sound you produce. A thicker string will produce greater volume and center tone, while a thinner string provides you with a shorter, crisper sound.

If youre new at altering your violins strings then purchasing them at a music store may be in order in the beginning. Most stores usually provide free string change with a purchase, although strings in a music store are often quite expensive due to inventory and other overhead costs.

If you’re comfortable with changing your own strings, or know someone who changes them for you, then you definitely should look around online where violin strings can be found much cheaper. Remember to element in the shipping expense when you compare violin string prices from various sources.

All but one tolerant treated at Australia’s Bundaberg Hospital dental wellbeing clinic has returned an unhelpful effect for blood-borne viruses. The case stemmed from a poser which occurred in the cleaning route of dental and surgical instruments. Some of the instruments worn were thought to be unsterile, and therefore, tests were conceded out to see if an infectious viral disease was approved onto any of the patients. This makes you question about whether the dentists were with high class disinfectant sprays or wipes. Before open any spread, I will simply say that it’s forever important to use a high grade disinfectant.

As reported by Herald & Weekly Times: The fallout for the final tolerant are estimated tomorrow. Thirty-three patients were treated at Bundaberg Hospital’s dental shape clinic on November 6, the day a hitch occurred in the cleaning treat for dental instruments. Two was not treated with instruments, but Queensland Health hardened the enduring 31 patients for Hepatitis A, B and C and HIV.

The tests were done to uncover whether any of them might have accepted on an infectious viral disease to anybody of 235 patients treated the next week. Queensland Health first said the 31 patients visited the clinic “past” to the ruin occurring. However, yesterday, they admitted some of the 31 patients may have also been operated on with dirty instruments, as it is said the cleaning disaster occurred about 10am (AEST) on November 6.

Queensland Health principal-broad Mick Reid said the emerge had been phobia, but admitted his department should have been more filmy in communication. “While we are assertive there is a very minimum peril to patients, we know this is a hard time for them,” Mr. Reid said. He said he would be placing the maximum importance on receiving to the foot of what occurred. “What occurred was not good enough and I apologize for any turmoil and distress caused by this episode,” he said. “Yesterday I directed that Queensland’s chief dental executive suppose operational manage of the oral vigor navy for the northern cluster of the Sunshine Coast-Wide Bay Health Service District, while the issues that have arisen are examined. I trust that this action will go some way to restoring the community’s confidence in the military provided by the Bundaberg oral fitness benefit.”

The above item reminds us that it’s always important to be sterile. Keeping good can regularly be as austere as using a high grade disinfectant spray or even disinfectant wipes. It is important to use a high grade disinfectant – one that is licensed to murder H1N1, MRSA, Hepatitis, HIV, and other bacteria and viruses. Most over the answer disinfectants are not solid enough to murder these germs. Remember, a good disinfectant cleaner can mean the difference between dying and not quick a deadly disease. Stay sterile and use high grade spays and wipes when using dental or surgical instruments.

What are the best blues instrumental music tracks? It’s a great question. Blues and lyrics go hand in hand, but what if you want just the blues without all the words? With that question in mind I set out to find the best instrumentals buried amongst the blues musical landscape. Here is my list of the best blues instrumentals and a little background on the musicians that gave them life.

The #1 spot on my blues instrumental music chart goes to “Juke” by Little Walker. Little Walker, whose real name is Marion Walter Jacobs, is a well known and respected blues singer, harmonica player, and guitarist. He is one of the greats and has been compared to other great artists like Charlie Parker and Jimi Hendrix. He changed people’s views on what they expected from a harmonica player by showing them what was possible. In March of 2008 he was placed in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the sideman category and was the only artist to get in for his work with a harmonica.

The #2 spot on my blues instrumental music chart goes to “Hide Away” by Freddie King. Freddie King, also known as “The Texas Cannonball”, was a great blues guitarist and singer. His guitar style was based off of Texas and Chicago influences that he developed over his twenty year recording career. He has inspired many great musicians such as Bill Freeman, Denny Campbell, and Jimmie Vaughan. He also was one of the first artists to have a multi-racial band on stage with him. Sadly, at the young age of 42, King passed away due to heart failure on December 28, 1979.

The #3 spot on my blues instrumental music chart goes to “Albatross” by Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green. Fleetwood Mac is a British/American rock band started back in 1967. Through the years the band members came and went, but they still were able to gain some success. The only band member to stay throughout was drummer Mick Fleetwood. Their most successful period is when they were led by guitarist Peter Green in the late 1960s.

These are just a few of my favorite instrumental music tracks and they are just skimming the surface of all the great blues instrumentals out there. I hope you enjoyed reading about them and challenge you to get out there and find some of your own and share them with the world. Until next time.
